Missing out...
This is a picture from my week at camp.
This is Ashlee making her piece with the Sasquatch outside of Osoyoos
Wow it has been a little bit and I probably say that at the opening of every blog when I haven't written anything in a while.
Here's the quick and dirty.
Ashlee is now 6 months pregnant with our little "M" and we are starting to try and make room for everything we think we are going to need. We actually wonder if our landlord doesn't want us to be here in the suite with a baby but we aren't going to ask. A week or so ago Ashlee was bemoaning the loss of her belly-button which seems to do a mid-afternoon disappearing act after its early morning appearances. Things at work for Ashlee are increasingly or just maintainingly (like the word?) stressful and she is counting down the days to the end.
The end could have been closer than we had originally anticipated. I had a job interview for an executive position with Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship but didn't get the job. I was up against some stiff competition.
Speaking of competition, there was plenty of it at the week long Senior High Camp that I just recently spoke at near Cremona, Alberta. The camp is called River's Edge and I was there for a week to challenge the campers with God's truth on the theme, "kNOw more." The theme is a shortened way of saying, "The more we know about the love and character of God, the more able we are to say no to the empty and temporary things of this world. We are then more able to know the life God intended for us and more able to walk in His will." It was a lot of fun and very challenging for me. During the time I had four key conversations with some High School students about the big questions they are facing, here is a run-down:
1. Why is it that moral and faithful Muslim are not accepted by God?
2. Is there really a difference between Christians and Muslims when their religions have the same basic moral teachings?
3. How do you talk to a Muslim about accepting Jesus?
4. Are there really psychic's and ghosts (manifested spirits)?
5. Does the Bible teach reincarnation?
6. What is wrong about reincarnation?
7. Why isn't karma true?
8. Are there such things as curses?
9. Why is it that good people suffer and why is it that their suffering is often greater than that of bad people?
10. If God gave us all seed bearing plants for our use (see Genesis 1) why is Marijuana (a seed bearing plant) bad?
11. If we aren't supposed to smoke Marijuana, what use is it?
12. How far can a physical male-female relationship go before you are married, according to the Bible?
This a brief listing.
It was good to get back to the prairies and breath the air, although it was so dry that I got a nose-bleed. Well, I am going to attach some pictures and feel free to comment.
