Its Freedom Baby, Yeah...

It has definitely been quite some time since I have written on our blog. So here is the update. The summer was busy but good. Church attendence was down but giving was up. Funny, huh. This fall we have several new things going on at Home Church and the Mission4Maturity.
Home Church inaugurated its new leadership team this past month. Here is the roll call...Jim and Babette Moerman, Butch and Terra Wellings, Jason Brink, Chris Hinksman, Callum McKay and me...Jeffrey. Pray for us as we do some major ministry evaluations and restructuring.
Home Church has also taken a second step in what we hope to become a key functional structure of the Church. Based upon the 1/2 time support based ministry that Ashlee and I are one another member of the Church, Dan Fairholm, has planned and implemented a similar 1/4 position as Pastor of Family Ministry Outreach. The idea we hope to implement is that: as Home Church becomes financially self-supporting we will not hire full-time staff as needs arise but train and engage Church members gifted in particular areas and hire them on 1/4 time basis. Therefore we free them for 10 specific hours for ministry that do not interfere with their work or personal time. Hope this all makes sense, it is in its beginning stages.
Dan's key ministries are the Children's program on Sunday. The twist that he is adding is the he is beginning a monthly event geared towards the parents and children associated with the school from which we rent space. Offering a free 'mini-fair' and service program he is hoping build relationships with these parents for outreach purposes.
I held our first Servants And Leaders in Training (SALT) meeting for our small goup leaders. It was both productive and challenging. We have two womens groups ready to roll, one of which is evangelistic in focus and using the ALPHA program as material. Also, Pastor Jim is operating an ESL Alpha. We have three other Home Groups being led by other people, two couples being first time leaders. I will be leading a men's group and maybe another as well.
To end, I just want to share some other pictures of the summer.
